24 Hour Sketch

The 24 Hour Sketch Show unfolds as a whirlwind of creativity, crafted entirely within the span of a Snow Day marathon.

This unique spectacle features an All-Star SNOWdown audience at the beginning of the marathon contributing suggestions that fuel the rapid creation of costumes, props, blocking, transitions, and lines. The performers embark on an artistic journey, weaving together an entire sketch show from scratch within 24 hours. With determination, the cast not only showcases their comedic prowess but also demonstrates an exceptional ability to adapt and innovate in real-time.

The result is a one-of-a-kind performance that seamlessly blends spontaneity, laughter, and the collaborative magic of the audience, leaving spectators in awe of the remarkable sketches born from the energy and unpredictability of a 24-hour marathon.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse is Go Comedy's Long Form Resident Cast. Consisting of 24 of Detroit's best improvisers, they can be seen performing every Sunday at Go Comedy as part of the Weekend Finale.

The 24 Hour Players

Snow Day 24 Hour Players redefine dedication as a group of improvisors who embrace the whimsy of a marathon night at Go Comedy! With unyielding commitment, these talented performers navigate the entire Snow Day without a wink of sleep, creating a tradition that sparks laughter and astonishment. As the clock ticks, their wordplay becomes wilder, their humor more daring, and their improv sets a testament to both skill and sleep deprivation.

This annual tradition is a highlight, showcasing their ability to craft a hilarious and unpredictable performance, leaving audiences in awe of their resilience and comedic brilliance. The Snow Day 24 Hour Players truly exemplify the spirit of improv and the unique energy that emerges from pushing the boundaries of both time and creativity.

Closing Ceremony

Torch Song

Torch Song’s three person improv troupe (2 actors, 1 MD) takes one Broadway show, and two Broadway actors playing every role. Often with no clue what they’re doing. Everything from Cats to Oklahoma, nothing is sacred.

Torch Song started in 2020 as a collaboration between long time improvisers David Moan and Jeremy St.Martin with music direction by Zach Kwiecinski. They’re debut performance (Snowday 2020!) was a stunning (?) recreation of Into the Woods. Since then the troupe has called GO their home with multiple performances in the weekend finale as well as subsequent Snow Days. Torch Song has also been featured in Chicago’s Dramatic Improv Festival, and has performed and workshopped at local high schools. They are thrilled to be a part of Snow Day 17!

Bottle of Red

Margaret and Nancy, along with their pal Josh Funk, founded the Planet Ant Improv Colony in 2000. They met at The Second City Detroit and upon realizing they were essentially the same person quickly became besties. For some stooped reason, they never played as a two-person troupe until one fateful night in 2006. Bottle of Red was born, and the duo went to perform regularly at the Planet Ant. They also wrote and performed their sketch show ‘Uncorked”. Since then they have played in many super fun festivals including DIF and the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival. Together Margaret and Nancy blend their years of improv experience and notes of unmatched humor into a complex bouquet of comedy.

Da Bureau

The Bureau was formed in 2019 as part of Go Comedy Improv Theater’s “Launch Group” program, where improvisers audition to be on a house team that performs every Sunday for a year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, that run ended up getting temporarily stalled, however during the lockdown they continued meeting virtually, and recorded a sketch comedy album during this time streaming at  https://dabureauofimprov.com. After the state opened back up our run got extended, making Da Bureau Go Comedy’s longest running launch group in its history.

Da Bureau hosted The Thursday Throwdown w/ Da Bureau at Planet Ant Theater in Hamtramck, MI for a year. They've performed at both the Grand Rapids Improv Festival and the Detroit Improv Festival.

Ferndale, MI

Pete n’ Oil n’ Friends

Pete 'n' Oli are long distance buds who meet twice a year. Over the past 9 years they've watched each other perform with numerous other improv comedy troupes & duos, and upon each parting said to one another "We oughta perform together sometime." Now is that time! And they've invited a select few performers to join them onstage for what's sure to be a riveting theatrical extravaganza.

Peter Jacokes has been part of the Metro Detroit improv community for over 20 years. He is a member of groups The Brothers Jacokes, The Planet Ant Home Team, James and Pete, Go Comedy Resident Cast, and many more. He's a co-founder of Snow Day and supports new, upcoming talent through classes, inclusive jams, and performance opportunities.

Don't Laugh

Don’t Laugh - The rules are simple. The challenge is excruciating.

Everyone on stage is trying to make the other person laugh, but no one is allowed to laugh. Performers are allowed to use any prop, one-liner, joke or mind game they can muster to make the others break, but if they even crack a smile they'll get a strike - three strikes and they're out of the show.

Join the hilarious members of Da Bureau (Jared Simard, Allen Smock, Miranda Fyfe, Devin Rosini, Devin Jenkins, Jenny Haddo, and Alex Bergmans) as they take on this daunting challenge and see who's the last one (not) laughing.

Cast: Jared Simard, Allen Smock, Miranda Fyfe, Devin Rosni, Devin Jenkins, Jenny Haddo, Alex Bergmans

Name Pending / Go DJ! / The Clubhouse

Name Pending - Name Pending is a newer improv troupe on the scene, but they play hard. The origin of Name Pending stemmed from not being able to decide on another title that fully embodied the spirit of the eclectic group. The group met in an Intro to Improv class at the Planet Ant Training Center. They have been improvising together since March of 2022 while continuing their education at Planet Ant. They are looking forward to performing more in 2023.

Cast: Abigail Jaske, Dan Martinez, Emma Ziegler Orloff, Marissa Carlton, Dan Pesta, Heather Jowett, Lisa Lynn

Go DJ! - Go DJ! is a duo composed of Jake Russell and Daniel Cook, based out of Planet Ant in Hamtramck, MI. The pair first met back in 2018 at a stand-up class at Mark Ridley’s, and then re-met in 2019 at an improv event through a mutual friend named Aliya (what’s up, Aliya, if you’re reading this!).

They have performed mainly at Planet Ant and at Civic Improv in Ann Arbor, which has been like a second home for the duo. If you try to contact them, don’t hold your breath — they’re busy grindin. Rise & grind baby.

Go DJ! is not in any way affiliated with the Young Money Cash Money Billionaires (YMCMB) of Lil Wayne and Drake and ’nem, although don’t be surprised if you happen to see them getting money one day. (But that day is not today, unfortunately, so don’t come up trying to ask for a loan either. You will be promptly denied.)

Cast: Jake Russell and Daniel Cook

The Clubhouse - “The Clubhouse” is Go Comedy’s long Form resident company, made up of a cast of 24 of the city’s best and brightest improvisers that perform every Sunday as part of the Weekend Finale show.

Their improv can go from the sentimental to sexy and everywhere in between.Their usual form is a montage, but they have been known to experiment with forms that probably shouldn’t be performed by just two people, but they don’t care because they have fun doing them!

Cast: Corene Ford and Amy Phillips
